SENIOR MEALS PROGRAM

The Senior Meals Program provides nutritious meals to older Americans. These meals include: hot lunches, frozen lunches, or frozen breakfast meals in combination with lunch. All meals comply with the most recent dietary guidelines for Americans and have a minimum of 1/3 of the dietary reference intakes for a senior adult as set by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

Just as important as a well-balanced meal is the need for socialization and information, particularly to those elderly with unmet social needs. Serving meals in a congregate setting affords many opportunities for recreation, exercise, socialization, health screenings, and volunteerism. In addition, well-planned programs can provide information on topics of interest and concern to older adults, such as: estate planning, medical and nursing home insurance policies, dietary concerns, and consumer fraud.  Click here to find a Senior Center near you.

Tax Deductible Donations

Those purchasing meals for themselves or a family member are not eligible for a Tax Deductible Donation. Those purchasing meals for non-family members are eligible.  They would need to keep the receipt for this purchase to claim it as a tax deduction on their taxes.  If you would like to donate, please contact Amanda by emailing Amanda.Vingers@earpdc.org or calling 1-800-239-6741.
